Gov’t Run Health 2.0 (or is it 3.0?)
This morning, the White House released the President’s nearly $1 trillion, 10-year health care plan that would establish a national health insurance authority that would help states combat insurers that institute unreasonable premium increases. The plan also calls for Medicare cuts and tax increases to subsidize health care exchanges for small businesses and others to buy coverage.
Yes, that’s right, the White House is holding onto the dream of government-run health care. Their proposed national “health insurance authority” would grant czar-like power through federal regulation, basically federal price controls set by politicians, and is just a dressed up path toward a Washington-controlled health care system for all Americans.
While this is by no means a revelation, it does draw a line in the sand for congressional negotiators coming into Thursday’s so-called National Health Care Summit.
The summit will be televised live, of course, and PPF.org expects it will be more political theater than a substantive policy debate. While the cameras roll, our charismatic president will have to use every bit of his powers of persuasion to convince virtually all Republicans (and a growing number of Democrats) that allowing the government to intercede in our health care is the right path to reform.
It’s uncertain that such an ambitious plan can pass…..even with the prospect of reconciliation. If Senate Democrats opt for a reconciliation vote, they will subvert the rules of debate in the Senate and attempt to pass reforms that Americans have clearly said they don’t want. Just when we thought they had learned their lesson with a crushing defeat in Massachusetts, slumping polls and surprise retirements from within their own ranks. It appears, however, that some in Washington just aren’t listening.
As always, PPF.org will continue to monitor and keep you up-to-date.

Well it seems as though the politicians don’t really care about the common people out here in the real world. as long as they can set on their duffs and draw big salarys and perks from corporations they could care less about the people who are keeping them up. They get their big raise and the seniors do not. They say senior raises are tied to the economy. Man how pissed off can ypu get about that. They are the ones that made that rule but they did not make a rule about their raises tied to the economy. Now with bama care they are going to help pay for it with cuts in medicare and social security. Why not take some of their retirement to help pay for it also. If they wonder why the american people are so pissed off at them they need to look in the mirror and see the person who is responsible.
Here we go again. The Dems are still trying to shove this socialized health care plan down the American people’s throats. When will they get it that the government can’t possibly run a health care system without the obligatory inefficiencies and waste. Just look around. Do we want to have the same health care as Canada and England? Of course not.
Allow purchase across state lines; eliminate the insurance industry anti-trust exemption; tort reform; and portability will solve 90% of the problem without costing the government (that’s us folks - you know - the taxpayer).
Here we go again listening to some one that thinks he is so smart ! It is alright for the seniors to have this insurance ( cut backs that are not right) Tell all those morons in Washington to go on the same plan we have. It is really very nervy ti interfere with the sniors ! We have PAID our Social secrutity for years . I hope the repubs win big in November. We do not need the people that are in office now.
I have heard Democrats telling us for years that the Republicans are going to take away our health insurance, so here I am on Medicare and it is the Democrats who are taking my health care away.
Folks ,
Do you realize that the anointed ones (Dems and Repubs) all have the very best health benefits available provided by “The office of the attending physicain”.Their family members are included as well.Just Google the above and you will be amazed what they receive for as little as $800.00 per year. This office was created in 1928.They make the comments that they have the same benefits that we have . What lies!!
The problem with government controlled health care or Obama care is the huge cost. That huge cost is FREEDOM.
WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN
Congress and the White House should stop squandering the people’s money first and then improve quality of basic entitlements. No new taxes. Congress should stop vote bribery and restart the process. Citizens come first.
It is time the U.S. limits its human rites and military policeman for the World by lobbying the United Nations and NATO to “take on more”. 800 bases across the world should be reduced. Starting with Iraq, remove most troops in 2010 and continue consulting for self reliance. After a surge in Afghanistan repeat, remove corruption and substitute same value food crops for drugs. Reduce forces in selected areas such as Germany, Bosnia and Okinawa.
Cut bureaucracy. Combine CDC, EPA and FDA. Combine the FAA and Transportation Department. No CSZARS Mr. president.
Contribute to one of: The World Bank or International Monetary Fund.
Reduce foreign aid. For example, no aid to oil rich -Iraq.
Reduce the “stimulus” by halting ridiculous earmarks. Please–no research of frogs or rats.
Please- no private or military jets for congress including Pelosi’s family at taxpayer expense.
Stop the “bailout”. To big to fail” is obsolete. No more executive bonuses of losing companies at taxpayer expense. “.
Reduce medical costs by “tort reform”, and limiting “red tape”.
Enforce immigration laws. Entitlements or benefits are for citizens. Deport criminal “illegals”. Workers with visas should receive only needed medical benefits.
Improve medical expense tax deduction for citizens reaching age 65. Provide employer tax reduction incentives for employee healthcare.
Full funding will support “Medicaid”,” Medicare”, and “Veteran’s Affairs”.
Healthcare quality should be at least that for Congress or the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEHBP). A result: no drug “benefit hole”, dental coverage, improved visual coverage and no co-pays except for extended skilled level nursing.
The savings can aid unemployment compensation, and stabilize Social Security.
The only thing that will wake the politicians up is for them to ALL of them to be OUT of office after the next election.
The scary thing is the number of people who agree with this administration.
